Below is a partial list of transgender people murdered this year for having the audacity to exist. I wonder how many others were murdered whom we'll never hear about.
Shame on all of us cis queer people for our apathy and, all too frequently, our antipathy. We refer to ourselves as the "LGBT community", but the token "T" is generally added with a begrudging, exasperated sigh ("Why won't they go away and stop ruining things for the rest of us?")
Well you can count me out of the "LGB" community too. I have no desire to belong to a "community" policed by cynical gaysbien gender Nazis. Hell, the gaysbiens are better gender cops than most straights. If you people want to be straight so much, do us all a favor and...go fucking straight!
Why have so many LGB people forgotten that they are queers?

I don't care if you join the priesthood, get married, adopt 62 children and deploy to Iraq for 9 consecutive tours of duty. Your sick heteronormative fantasies are just that: sick fantasies! Straight America (you know who you are) will never let you sit at the adults' table no matter how often they pat you on the head. How can you abandon and attack our transgender brothers and sisters for the sake of such a pointless, twisted fantasy? Are you really that self-loathing?

Taysia and Michael Hunt were romantically involved and it is believed
that they were murdered because Taysia was transgender and Michael
was murdered because of his relationship with Taysia.
They were both found dead in their apartment.

Ebru had asked the Prosecutor’s Office for protection from the man who had beaten her on several occasions and threatened to kill her. Lambda Istanbul was told that a few weeks ago police detained the man but released him two hours later. The same man is under police custody as the murder suspect.
